Veterans of CDK

Kyle BrooksKyle Brooks has served in the Army Reserve since 2009 and joined CDK in 2012. He originally enlisted as a 68W Healthcare Specialist and now serves as a Company Commander, while also working as a senior principal product manager at CDK.

“The Army taught me the importance of living by a set of values. While a different set of values from CDK, the acronym LDRSHIP standing for loyalty; duty; respect; selfless service; honor; integrity; and personal courage resonates closely with the way I strive to live.”

Shawn Davis grew up in a military family, and after losing one of his best friends while serving in the military, he decided to join the U.S. Air Force in tribute. Shawn, VP, Implementation, has been with CDK for 27 years.

What principles or values from your time in service have you brought with you to CDK?

“The values of the USAF are similar to what we have at CDK. Those that I learned in the USAF and still apply today are integrity, accountability, and striving to do the right thing even when no one is watching. The other value and principle that I learned that I still apply today is discipline and service to the greater mission or goal before one’s self.”

How do you feel supported at CDK?

“CDK is an industry leader in creating an inclusive work environment that reflects the organization’s commitments and beliefs, that includes military veterans. The company-sponsored and employee-led Inclusion & Diversity Impact Team provides professional development services for veterans and their families while also promoting cultural awareness around military issues.”

Sam Dixon

Sam Dixon, an infrastructure engineer, is a 7-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was in the Presidential Honor Guard where he served as a Pentagon Tour Guide and Pallbearer in Arlington National Cemetery. He also served at the National Security Agency.

“I feel supported at CDK because I am not only a veteran but a military spouse. During my tour of CDK, we have moved from Destin, FL to Sacramento, CA to Biloxi, MS and to Tampa, FL. CDK has been very supportive through it all.”

“Being a veteran means that I put the safety of my country above myself to fight for our freedom and protect our way of life. The values I brought with me to CDK are integrity first, service before self and striving for excellence in all that I do.”

Kyle Wilke served a total of 10 years in the military: four years of active duty U.S. Marine Corps and six years in the National Guard. He graduated from Paris Island, South Carolina, as I buck private on December 17, 1993, and was meritoriously promoted twice, reaching the rank of Sergeant within three years. Kyle, manager, Implementation, has been with CDK for seven years.

What principles or values from your time in service have you brought with you to CDK?

“I think the Armed Forces gives young adults the opportunity to develop those intangible qualities that can be so valuable for success in any veteran. Accountability, direction, respect, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity are all qualities that were learned, developed, or fine-tuned because of the Marine Corps, and I believe those have been a real asset for my career here.”

David Bang decided to join the military after the events that transpired on 9/11. In October 2002, he signed up to join the Air Force. David, manager, Supply Chain, Procurement, has been with CDK for nearly five years.

How do you feel included/supported at CDK?

“CDK has done a fantastic job supporting me with my professional growth. If there is anything I need, I know that my leadership and those around me are there for support. CDK recognizes veterans in my location by setting up veterans walk and honor wall.”
